Hi, I'm new to U.S. and I really don't know the words/terms we use to describe the haircut.I want to get a hair style for my long hair with some curls/waves to it.what terms should I use?

If you have naturally straight hair and you are looking for permanent or temporary curly/wavy hair then ask the stylist for a perm. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy I would recommend getting your hair layered... it's easier to manage this way and looks cute on almost everyone. (Be sure to ask for long layers though.)

I have the same type of hair. you can put it in layers. you can Keep it in a loose ponytail ,headband, Or a pretty style: tie it in a ponytail and then clip it up. Works for me :) Good Luck

I'm not big on hair styles.. But if you go into just about any salon you can locate a book of hair styles.

Check it out, if their unnamed, then tell your barber what you would like to have done to your hair by description, or just show her the picture

I have several clients who speak little english so for them to convey their hairstyle, we look thru the hairstyle books and they can see and so can I a visual pic of what they like and want done.

And of course a smile from them afterwards is a universal language, it gives me satisfaction to see them happy with their hair!
